Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy

Purpose

The Dyal Singh Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (DSJHSS) is committed to maintaining long-term access to its scholarly content beyond the continued operation of any single website or server.

Preservation Arrangement

DSJHSS content is preserved through the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN/PLN), an established preservation service for journals using Open Journal Systems.

The ISSN International Centre's preservation information records DSJHSS content from 2023 onward within the Public Knowledge Project preservation network. The journal will maintain its preservation configuration and will monitor preservation status as part of its publishing administration.

Content Covered

Preservation arrangements are intended to protect published journal content and associated files supplied to the preservation service through the journal platform.

The journal should maintain complete issue and article metadata so that preserved material can be accurately identified.

Continuity of Access

The purpose of digital preservation is to support recovery and continuing access if the journal website becomes unavailable or if technical, institutional or other disruption affects the primary publishing platform.

Preservation is distinct from routine website backup. The journal should also maintain reasonable administrative backups of its publishing platform and records according to institutional technical arrangements.

Open Access and Preservation

Preservation does not change the journal's open-access status, copyright ownership or article licence. Published articles remain subject to the copyright and CC BY 4.0 terms stated by DSJHSS.

Monitoring

Because preservation services and technical arrangements can change, the journal will periodically review its preservation status and update this policy if its preservation provider or method changes.

Author Self-Archiving

In addition to journal-level preservation, authors are permitted to deposit preprints, accepted manuscripts and the published Version of Record without embargo under the journal's Self-Archiving and Repository Policy.
